Sourcing
Because support in a nursing bra comes primarily from the frame and the bra's elastic band, every element of the LMBRA is individually sourced by Lovemère from the elastane fibers to its straps, bra hardware, hook & eye closure, nursing clips, rings, and sliders.
Our bra straps are made of high-quality elastic and padded for comfort. The hook-and-eye closure that securely holds the bra together must be soft.
The nursing clips, rings, and sliders, usually made of strong, environmentally friendly plastic, have to be comfortable and non-irritating on the skin.
Pattern-Making
The stretch directions of the bra fabric are incredibly important for the bra’s fit and support. Therefore, our pattern-maker used the most effective techniques to create the knitting pattern pieces for the bra cups, under-bust band, and center back panels, to bring our vision for the bra to life.
Knitting and Weaving the Fabric
When it comes to choosing fabric for a bra, how it sits on and moves with the body is a top concern.
The Double Construction knit, with its excellent stretch-recovery properties, plays a key role in the durability of a nursing bra.
Knit fabrics are created with a knitting machine that produces interlocking loops of thread, which are then intertwined into a single piece of nursing bra fabric.
This allows the final fabric to stretch comfortably with the wearer’s movements without causing discomfort or restraint. We chose China because the factory we selected has the technology to create our nursing bras using the double-knitting method we desired.
We visited the factory in Q4 2023.
It is important that the owner of the factory is approved by Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI), an initiative established by the Federal Trade Organization (FTA) for companies who seeking to improve their social compliance.
Participating companies are subjected to numerous audit checks, covering aspects such as workplace health and safety, compensation, and environmental responsibility.
Testing Phase
To create a bra with the optimal fit, we enlisted the help of real mums with varying heights, body shapes, and weights to test the feel, fit, and functionality of the bras as they go about their busy daily lives—parenting, nursing, and working.
We also involved these mums in our photoshoots, ensuring our designs truly reflect the real-life experiences and needs of mothers everywhere.
We needed to ensure that the fabric and elasticity would endure regular use and laundering, so we conducted countless wash tests.
These tests were the final, yet most crucial stage, to determine if our product would meet the high standards we uphold.
Production and Quality Control
Sewing lingerie differs significantly from general clothing sewing.
A nursing bra, in particular, is one of the most challenging garments to sew, which is why we only use seamstresses who are meticulous and precise.
Once production is completed, every nursing bra undergoes rigorous quality control checks. The bras are also re-measured to ensure they are the correct size.
Upon arriving at our Singapore warehouse, we run the items through another round of quality control checks before deeming them suitable for delivery. From this warehouse, all our items are shipped worldwide to your doorstep.
