Hospital Bag Checklist

Everything you actually need to pack. Curated by Lovemère mums who've been there, so you don't have to overthink it.

We recommend packing your hospital bag by Week 35. Start with the essentials for mum (you'll want your nursing bra and binder from Day 1), then add baby's items. Tick off items as you pack. You've got this.

Hospital Bag: For Mum

Your comfort matters too. Pack these first.

  • Nursing Bra (2-3 pieces) Lovemère
You'll want this from Day 1. Choose a comfortable, wire-free nursing bra that stretches with your changing bust size.
    Shop Seamless Nursing Bra

  • Nursing-Friendly Pyjamas or Dress Lovemère
Choose something with easy nursing access so midnight feeds aren't a struggle. You'll be in these for a couple of days.
    Shop Nursing Sleepwear

  • Nursing Camisole Lovemère
Layer under your pyjamas or wear alone. A cami with built-in bra support makes those first feeds so much easier.
    Shop Ellie Cruz Nursing Cami

  • Maternity Underwear (3-4 pieces) Lovemère
Our V-shape design sits below the belly and is gentle on c-section incisions. Bring dark colours.
    Shop Mère Bottoms

  • Maternity Pads (heavy flow)
The hospital may provide some, but bring your own just in case. You'll need heavy-flow pads for the first few days.

  • Nipple Cream
Apply after every feed in the first week. Your nipples will thank you. Lanolin-based creams are safe for baby.

  • Comfortable Going-Home Outfit
Something loose, nursing-friendly, and makes you feel good. A nursing dress works perfectly for this.
    Shop Nursing Dresses

  • Toiletries
Toothbrush, face wash, lip balm, hair ties, and any skincare you love. The small comforts matter.
Pro Tip from Lovemère Mums

Wear your nursing bra to the hospital. You'll start breastfeeding within the first hour after birth, and fumbling with a regular bra is the last thing you need.

02

Hospital Bag: For Baby

Keep it simple. Babies need very little at the start.

  • Newborn Onesies (3-4 pieces)
Front-snap onesies are easiest for diaper changes. Bring extras for spit-ups.

  • Swaddle Blankets (2 pieces)
Muslin swaddles work for swaddling, as a light blanket, and as a burp cloth. So versatile.

  • Diapers (newborn size)
Bring a small pack. The hospital usually provides some, but it's good to have your own.

  • Baby Wipes (fragrance-free)
Fragrance-free and gentle on newborn skin. Some mums prefer cotton balls with water for the first week.

  • Going-Home Outfit for Baby
Something cute for the photos, but make sure it's easy to put on. Babies don't love getting dressed.

  • Mittens and Booties
Tiny nails can scratch tiny faces. A pair of mittens keeps baby comfortable.
03

Postpartum Recovery

Your body did something incredible. Help it heal.

  • Postpartum Tummy Wrap Binder Lovemère
Start wearing at the hospital. Provides gentle compression for your belly, waist, and hips. Supports back and core muscles during breastfeeding.
    Shop Tummy Wrap Binder

  • Stool Softener
Ask your doctor about this. Trust us, you'll be glad you did. The first postpartum trip to the bathroom can be daunting.

  • Perineal Spray or Sitz Bath
Cooling perineal spray can be a lifesaver after vaginal delivery. A sitz bath helps with healing.

  • Warm Socks and Slippers
Hospital floors are cold. Warm feet make everything feel a little better.

  • Water Bottle (large)
Breastfeeding makes you incredibly thirsty. A large bottle with a straw cap is ideal for one-handed drinking.

  • Snacks
Granola bars, nuts, dried fruit. You'll be hungry at odd hours, especially during night feeds.
Pro Tip from Lovemère Mums

Wear your tummy wrap binder right after delivery (even for c-section, with your doctor's go-ahead). The gentle compression feels like a supportive hug and helps you feel more put-together during those first hazy days.

Breastfeeding Essentials

Everything to support your feeding journey.

  • Breast Pump Lovemère
Wear your pumps with a hands-free pump bra makes expressing so much easier, especially when you're multitasking (which you will be, always).
    Shop Skye Pump Bra

  • Nursing Breast Pads Lovemère
Pop them in your nursing bra to catch leaks. Our bamboo pads are washable, reusable, and gentle on sensitive skin.
    Shop Bamboo Breast Pads

  • Milk Storage Bags
Start building your freezer stash early. Pre-sterilised bags are the easiest option.

  • Nursing Cover Lovemère
Full coverage for feeding in public, and doubles as a baby blanket. Comes with a breathable wide-top design.
    Shop Buttery Nursing Cover

  • Lactation Massager Lovemère
Helps stimulate milk flow, relieve clogged ducts, and reduce engorgement. Recommended by lactation consultants.
    Shop Warming Lactation Massager

  • Lactation Snacks
Oats, flaxseed, and brewer's yeast are known to support milk supply. Stock up before baby arrives.
05

Nice to Have

Not essential, but these make the stay more comfortable.

  • Phone Charger (long cable)
Hospital power outlets are never where you need them. A 2m cable is a lifesaver.

  • Pillow from Home
Hospital pillows are flat. Yours will help you sleep better and can double as nursing support.

One less thing to worry about.
